No Tired

No Tired

We have some very special employees here from many different countries. The language and cultural differences can sometimes be very funny. Here is a for instance:

One of our hardest workers is Teme. He’s been here for years and always has a big smile. When we wanted to start a night shift to come in the afternoon and work at night, he was quick to volunteer. We explained that instead of starting at 8 am he would start at 4pm and work into the night. He was agreeable.

The next day when I arrived he was there at 8am. I asked him “why are you here Teme?” and his reply was “No tired” so we laughed and he worked all day and into the night. The next morning there was Teme. 8AM. I asked him, “Teme, why are you here?” Of course his reply was “No tired”. I told his supervisor he needs rest so please explain to him he needs to rest. This happened Wednesday and Thursday again. On Friday morning I saw him. He looked terrible. I knew I had to take action. I went to him and said “Teme, you need to go home now! Aren’t you tired?” He finally replied “Yes tired” and he went home. His name at the farm is now “No Tired”.
